The Africa Club of Queensland

Whats happening at the club?

Just to let you all know that we had some changes at the club recently.

1) Jorrie Jordaan resigned from the committee - so we are looking for a new committee member to take his place. Please get in touch if you want to be involved.

2) The West Brisbane Bulldogs club started charging us to use their venue the last couple of times. The club can not afford this expense on our current budget, so we are looking for a new venue to have our regular gatherings at. We will be going to the Toowong Bowls Club this month to trial it there. Let us know if you have any connections that may work for us.

We are all getting together this Friday, 30th July, for our regular gathering, and we look forward to seeing you there. Bring a plate of food to share and a non perishable item of food to donate to a charity for Christmas in July.

Have a great week guys.

Much love
Morne, Charl, Paul and John.

30 July - Monthly meeting "Christmas in July"

We have our next monthly meeting on Friday 30th of July 2010 at 18:30 at the Toowong Bowls Club. 59 Gailey Road, Taringa.
xmas in July

Our theme for this month is Christmas in July. We thought it would be good to support a charity, and we are asking you to bring something along that we can donate to the less priviledged in Brisbane. A tin of food or non-perishable food item will be gladly received on the night destined for charity. Make someone else's day by gifting them food.

Looking forward to catching up with everyone, have a drink, some biltong a few good jokes and generally just a fun time.

Please bring a plate of food to share and your dancing shoes. We will have some music to get your feet moving. Drinks are for sale from the clubhouse.

27 August Monthly Gathering - Cadac braai in the park

We are really happy to let you know about next months gathering. We will be having a bring-en-braai / picnic in Captain Burke Park, near the Story Bridge. (The same spot we normally get together for Riverfire event). Bring your own meat and drinks! No bar available this time.

safari chef

Cadac has recently returned to Australia and is now selling a whole range of products to the Australian market. You may have noticed the Safari Chef in Anaconda (if you are a camping fanatic), or the Carry Chef (Skottelskaar) as it is now called. Do you need some spares, or would you like to get your hands on one of their new items. Come along and see the stuff for yourself.

Shaun Olivier will be there to demonstrate the new items to you and you can even braai your own meat on his equipment to make sure it works ok for you.

If you want to get hold of Shaun before the meeting, then ring him on 0417 980 524 and he can bring some extra items for sale with him.

See you guys there.

Rugby - TriNations SA vs Aus at Suncorp

Lots of supports in their green jersey arrived at the "Paddo" a few hours before the game. It is really difficult to imagine that once there were hardly any Springbok Jerseys around in Brisbane, cause on Saturday the whole way from Roma street station to the Paddo South Africans were strewn all over the place.

Our worst fear came true, another loss at the Suncorp slaughter yard. So bad that friends & family back in SA are telling me rather no to go to the stadium again as it might be I that jinks them. Nonetheless, fun was had and beer did flow. Lets hope for great results back in SA when the Aussies and Kiwis take on the World Cup energy in SA.
